The Phantom of the Opera Closes on Broadway

After 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances, the chandelier has dropped for the last time on Broadway’s longest-running show, The Phantom of the Opera. Attending the final performance at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday night was an audience of lifelong fans and beloved cast and crew members alike, from Phantom veteran Laird Mackintosh, to the original Christine Daaé herself, Sarah Brightman. All were there for the same reason: to hear The Music of the Night on Broadway one last time.

On Friday 14th April at a special gala performance, Christines past and present, Sarah Brightman, Sierra Boggess, Ali Ewoldt and Emilie Kouatchou, announced a Phantom of the Opera Broadway charity auction. The auction will give those who donate the opportunity to take home one-of-a-kind items from the show’s iconic run, including Christine’s dress robe and Phantom’s cape, while supporting important New York City organisations, Broadway Bridges, The American Theatre Wing and The Prince Fellowship, to build, support and foster future, diverse audiences and artists.

And Phantom is going out in style with all remaining Broadway merch available now at the official store, including pieces from our hit ‘88 Collection.
