On a tiny site just north of Oxford Street and a stone’s throw from The London Palladium stands a most wonderful building. All Saints Margaret Street is a Gothic church that Andrew Lloyd Webber considers one of the three most exciting religious buildings in London alongside St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.
Andrew comments:
If I meet people who don't know this masterpiece, I take them there. When I was working on the Evita movie, I took Madonna and her small dog”Designed by architect William Butterfield, All Saints was begun in 1849 and caused a sensation when it opened.
Inside you are immediately struck by its decoration. Rich colouring is everywhere and the screen behind the altar, completed by Sir Ninian Comper, is alone worth seeing. All Saints Margaret Street is a 400m walk from the London Palladium.
