Following the government's roadmap announcement, Andrew is excited to reveal that the Cinderella rehearsals begin today and that he is absolutely prepared to do his part to get theatre open again this summer!
In light of the uplifting news, Andrew did an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail to unveil the refurbishment progress in the Gillian Lynne Theatre, where the anticipated new musical will open.
Watch the video below to get a sneak peek of the stage taking shape and hear a few words from Andrew and Carrie Hope Fletcher, who will be starring in the lead role as Cinderella.
Andrew has been working tirelessly to keep his London theatres afloat during lockdown, but also has utilised the time to refurbish ahead of their reopening, including improving seating, bars, dressing rooms, remodelling auditoriums and adding 168 (mostly women's) loos to his venues. 'I just didn't want to stop,' he told the Daily Mail.
He is now pushing forward relentlessly with the launch of Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this summer. 'If we get a situation where, for serious medical reasons, we can't carry on, then obviously we can't,' he said, 'We've got to get moving again. That is my top priority.'
