Sunset Boulevard wins 7 Olivier Awards

Last night (Sunday 14 April), Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Sunset Boulevard won 7 Olivier awards, making it one of the most awarded musicals in a single night in Olivier Award history. 

The evening started with theatre’s top stars walking the Green Carpet which was hosted by West End and tikTok star, Hannah Lowther. Among the star-studded guestlist were Nicole Scherzinger (West End’s Norma Desmond), Sarah Snook, Andrew Scott, Arlene Phillips and more. Beginning from outside the Royal Albert Hall, Sunset Boulevard lit up the stage with a performance by Tom Francis, who played Joe Gillis in the West End.

The awards received were:

Best musical revival - Sunset Boulevard

Best director - Jamie Lloyd, Sunset Boulevard

Best actor in a musical - Tom Francis, Sunset Boulevard

Best actress in a musical - Nicole Scherzinger, Sunset Boulevard

Best sound design - Adam Fisher, Sunset Boulevard

Best lighting design - Jack Knowles, Sunset Boulevard

Outstanding musical contribution - Alan Williams, Sunset Boulevard

Following its triumphant run in the West End, the production will be making its mark on Broadway later this year. While the eagerly anticipated album is now available to preorder.
