Today, the world was introduced to The Real Townspeople of Belleville. In other words, the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical, Bad Cinderella, was announced!
In an exclusive, happily-ever-after take on the Real Housewives franchise opening credits for People, the musical's star Linedy Genao reminds us: "I'm not your Cinderella; I'm your bad Cinderella." After being introduced to the rest of the cast members, we are certain that this is no ordinary fairytale!
Genao, who made her Broadway debut in On Your Feet!, before appearing as an understudy in Dear Evan Hansen, is joined by a talented line-up, including Jordan Dobson (A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, West Side Story) as Prince Sebastian, Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello (Parade, Sister Act) as our lead's Stepmother and Grace Mclean (In the Green, Suffs) as The Queen.
Christina Acosta Robinson as The Godmother injects her glitzy introduction with some tongue and cheek humour by telling us "Beauty is pain... I make sure of it," while Morgan Higgins and Sami Gayle as the Stepsisters fuel the laughs even further by declaring themselves "everyone's favourite engines" (they mean ingénues).
The ensemble cast members include Raymond Baynard, Michael Baerga, Lauren Boyd, Tristen Buettel, Kaleigh Cronin, Josh Drake, Ben Lanham, Angel Lozada, Cameron Loyal, Mariah Lyttle, Sarah Meahl, Christian Probst, Larkin Reilly, Julio Rey, Lily Rose, J. Savage, Tregoney Shepherd, Dave Schoonover, Paige Smallwood and Aléna Watters plus swings Alyssa Carol, Gary Cooper, Robin Masella, Michael Milkanin, Chloe Nadon-Enriquez and Lucas Thompson.
Bad Cinderella is directed by Laurence Connor with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter and features music by Lloyd Webber and a book by Emerald Fennell. Previews begin on 17 February and the show is set to open 23 March at the Imperial Theatre. Book now!
