Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar at the Watermill Theatre has won Best Musical Production at the UK Theatre Awards 2025.
Described as “visceral, inventive, thrilling” by The Stage, this immersive production brought to life by a talented ensemble cast of actor-musicians spills out of the intimate 220 seater theatre into the gardens, drawing audiences into the heart of this epic musical.
The Watermill Theatre in Bagnor, Berkshire is a former derelict watermill, converted in 1967 into one of the smallest and prettiest professional theatres in the country.
Winners were revealed at this year’s ceremony, at 8 Northumberland Avenue on 12 October, hosted by Faye Tozer.
