This autumn, Scenekvelder brings back the masterpiece: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, one of the world’s most iconic and beloved musical theatre works, in a spectacular production at Folketeateret.
After selling out and captivating audiences in 2018, the time has come to bring this legendary musical back to the stage. Audiences are invited to a spectacular revival and a musical experience in a class of its own.
Inspired by Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, Le Fantôme de L’Opéra, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a mysterious masked figure who lurks beneath the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with a young soprano, Christine Daaé, and devotes himself to nurturing her extraordinary talents, employing all of the devious methods at his command.
“For those of us who have worked on this production before, returning to it feels like stepping back into a perfect work of art,” says Artistic Director and owner Atle Halstensen. “We look forward to reviving the intense energy, dramatic power, and emotions that make Phantom one of the greatest masterpieces in musical theatre history.”
“Our 2018 production has been on an incredible journey since it first captivated audiences at Folketeateret,” says Executive Producer and owner Karianne Jæger. “In recent years, our production has traveled around the world, with performances in places such as Dubai and Greece. That our version has been sought after worldwide speaks volumes about the quality of our work. Now we are thrilled to invite audiences back to experience the musical that continues to captivate audiences across the globe.”
The production premieres on Thursday, 2 September 2027 at Folketeateret.
