Today, Andrew Lloyd Webber's fan favourite musical, Sunset Boulevard, celebrates its 30-year anniversary. Having premiered at the Adelphi Theatre in London's West End on 12 July 1993 with Patti Lupone in the starring role as Norma Desmond, the show went on to open on Broadway in 1994 with Glenn Close in the lead.
The production has been nominated for four Olivier Awards and has won seven Tony Awards. Along with Lupone and Close, musical theatre legends Betty Buckley and Elaine Paige are among those to play Desmond on stage.
In this very special anniversary video, Buckley and Paige join the man behind the music himself, Andrew Lloyd Webber, to look back on 30 years of Sunset Boulevard.
Sunset Boulevard returns to the West End stage this September with Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond. Don't miss out on this limited 16-week run from 21 September 2023.
