Last night’s Olivier Awards marked a truly special celebration of theatre, as the ceremony celebrated its 50th anniversary with an evening filled with unforgettable performances, iconic moments and well‑deserved recognition.
The ceremony opened in spectacular style with Phantom of the Opera in celebration of its 40th year. Beginning on the stairs outside the Royal Albert Hall with an iconic performance of Masquerade before moving inside, the performance included a surprise appearance from Andrew Lloyd Webber, playing the organ in an unforgettable cameo.
The evening also featured a show-stopping performance from Rachel Zegler of Don't Cry For Me Argentina, and following its critically acclaimed run at The London Palladium last year, EVITA took home two Olivier Awards including:
Rachel Zegler for Best Actress in a Musical
Fabian Aloise for Best Theatre Choreographer

To make an already incredible evening even more memorable, Andrew Lloyd Webber returned to the stage to present the Special Award to Elaine Paige, honouring her remarkable contribution to theatre, including starring roles in EVITA and CATS, and her enduring legacy in the West End and beyond.
