The 2006 revival of Evita

Michael Grandage’s revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1978 classic Evita opened at The Adelphi Theatre in London on 21st June 2006.

Argentinian actress Elena Roger took on the iconic role of Eva Peron to great acclaim – with The Daily Telegraph’s Charles Spencer saying: “Elena Roger glows with star quality in the lead role of Evita.” Michael Grandage, artistic director of London’s premier art-house theatre The Donmar Warehouse, was also critically acclaimed for his direction of the show, which also starred Philip Quast as Peron and Matt Rawle as Che.

The production ran until May 2007 and was nominated for a number of awards, including a nomination for Elena Roger as Best Actress In A Musical at the 2006 Laurence Olivier Awards.
