‘Sing’ the official commemorative Jubilee album top of chart

The Official Charts Company has confirmed that ‘Sing’, the commemorative Jubilee album based on the Official Diamond Jubilee song, has made it straight to the top of the album pop charts this Diamond Jubilee weekend. It has also been confirmed that ‘Sing’ reached No.11 in the singles chart.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said earlier today, “I’m absolutely thrilled, this is a burst of sunshine on a rainy Sunday – let’s hope the sun shines on Gary’s concert tomorrow.”

Tomorrow, Monday 4 June, Andrew, along with Gary Barlow, Gareth Malone, the Military Wives Choir, and the Commonwealth Band, will be giving SING its first live public performance at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace in front of the Queen. SING, the official Diamond Jubilee song, was composed by Andrew and Gary as a tribute to the Queen and her commitment to the Commonwealth.

Andrew and Gary will be at pianos, leading both the musicians onstage and the 10,000 audience members, in song. The performance of SING will be the pinnacle of a star-studded concert that includes performances by Paul McCartney, Alfie Boe, Shirley Bassey, Elton John and Jessie J.

The concert will be televised live on BBC1 from 19.30.

‘On Her Majesty’s Service’, Gary Barlow’s documentary about the finding performers for SING, in which Andrew features, will be aired tonight, Sunday 3 June at 19.30 on BBC1.
