How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Scoops International Emmy

_How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?_ last night won the 2007 International Emmy Award for best non-scripted entertainment programme.

The BBC1 show fought off stiff competition from Argentina’s _CQC_, Spain’s _The Prison Choir_ and Japan’s _Takeshi Kitano presents Comaneci University Mathematics_.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: _”I am hugely proud of the show’s achievements and the way in which the show introduced musical theatre to a whole new audience, showcasing new talent in front of millions of viewers every week”._

British television dominated the 35th annual International Emmy Awards, which honour television programmes produced outside the US. British programmes won seven out of the eight categories in which they received nominations.
