Grammy Award Winner joins Andrew in his quest for Eurovision glory
Legendary songwriter Diane Warren has been named as the woman who will pen the words to Britains entry for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.
Diane, whose CV reads like a whos who of pop music, has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Elton John,Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls and Christina Aguilera. No fewer than 31 of her songs have charted in the top 10 of the US Billboard 100, and she remains one of the hottest talents in songwriting today.
On working with Andrew and changing the UKs Eurovision fortunes, Diane said: “I am thrilled to be working with Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is a legend, and I am honoured to write with him for the Eurovision Contest artist. I hope that a song from Andrew Lloyd Webber and me will spell a change of fortune for the UK at Eurovision. We will write the best song possible for the event and for the artist. I am excited to be a part of this event with Andrew.”
Dianes songs have appeared in more than 100 films and in 1997 she was awarded a Grammy for the track ‘Because You Loved Me’, performed by Celine Dion for the film _Up Close and Personal_, which starred Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford. She has also received six Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song.
Andrew said “I am very excited to be working with Diane Warren, one of Americas greatest songwriters. This is a massively new direction for me and I cannot wait to get started.”
The first live show of _Your Country Needs You_ aired earlier this evening giving the public their first chance to have a say on who they want to represent them in May.
