Danielle is your Dorothy!
A tense final at the Over the Rainbow studios this evening saw Danielle Hope triumph with the most viewers’ votes and emotions ran high as she eased her feet into the coveted ruby slippers.
Danielle beat her two fellow finalists, Sophie and Lauren who finished in second and third place respectively.
Danielle will now go on to star as Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz, which will open at the London Palladium early next year.
Danielle’s version of ‘Over The Rainbow’ is now available to download on iTunes.

Well done to Danielle for winning, you’re a great singer and actress. Well done~ :)
– CrimsonGuitar. But personally I would of loved it if Sophie had won. She was my favourite from the start! I was like a mad women voting on that phone for Sophie and practically cried when she didn’t win. I would’ve moved heaven and earth to see her perform! Sorry Danielle but overall I love Sophie! Even thought she didn’t win.
I’m quite upset about this. So I’m one person who will not be coming to see you onstage.

well done Danielle from Ayse (5) in Dublin who has enjoyed watching but could not watch for the last two week as she was nervous for Danilelle !
Best of Luck Danielle the New Dorothy !
Great job

Fantastic show all the girls were brilliant it was so exciting the last few weeks but also tinged with sadness as a different girl left each week. Congratulations yet again to Andrew and his team for a superb production and no better show than the Wizard of Oz !

What a great final. My sister Elaine would have been proud, she passed away 2 weeks ago but as she was poorly she alwaysinsited on watching Ove rthe Rainbow and singing along to it. Thank you for making my sisters last days special for her, we were planning to take her to see the musical when it came out but unfortunately she deterioated really quickly. In her final words we said to people “To say goodbye to Elaine on her yellow brick road journey. Thank you once again R I P Elaine Johnson on facebook

I am so thrilled that Danielle has won the part of Dorothy, because for me she has stood out from the others over the past few weeks. My husband and I both voted for her during last nights’ shows. I woke this morning to discover that my husband, after I went to bed, booked tickets for us to see the show next March on my birthday weekend, so I do hope Danielle is in the leading role that night – 5th March. We’ll miss “Over the Rainbow” on Saturday night now but excited about seeing the show next year. Enjoy rehearsals everyone.

Good job she won as the shoes were a perfect fit!
I cannot wait to go see Lauren in whatever show she gets, for me she was absolutely the best & she should be soooo proud of herself
Her version of ‘over the rainbow’ was just beautiful & the best of the series!

I just want to say that I loved Over the Rainbow. I am a Rainbow/Guider responsible for girls aged 4 – 7 and we meet on a Monday evening and the girls all talk the programme. Sir Andre Lloyd Webber you are brilliant. I know you have been unwell with Prostrate Cancer. This is a cause that is dear to my heart as my Dad died from this in 1981 a few months after my 40th birthday. I am a Christian and I am praying for you. I have watched all your production on tele. Ive only been to London once and that was in 1985 my honeymoon. Well Id better go. God Bless you Lord Webber sorry. Jean

Congratulations to Danielle she was fabulous.
I was very annoyed and upset though at the way Sophie was treated.
Lauren had a fabulous send of at Sophie was not even mentioned just dismissed it was awful.
I had followed and thoroughly enjoyed the programme throughout but thought the BBC let themseleves down. What about all the millions of viewers who watched and voted throughour. What about Sophie!

Well done Danielle! she will make a great Dorothy and my girls and i will be going to see the show, however we did also love Sophie very much and on the night i think she did give a more heart warming performance of Dorothy when singing over the rainbow. lets just hope that sir Andrew will ask her to maybe take it on tour, who knows?? again my girls and i will go and see Sophie in the role.

Not suprised with this result, but disappointed!
Lauren really should have won.
I am looking forward to hearing that she’s got a ‘leading lady’ role & going to see her, I have no doubts it’ll be money well spent!
Unsure if will attend ‘Oz’ now, Danielle always bored me, I never felt anything emotion from her performances!!
@Linz1976 – Will you attend? I read you had alot of friends & some even abroad wanting to see Lauren in this role!?
Posted by sully111 on 24th May 2010 at 22:40
@sully111 No, won’t be going afterall. Alot of us had tickets, but were offloading them! lol
One of my friends was still going to go until she saw Danielle on ‘This Morning’ – I didn’t watch, but apparantly suddenly she looks totally different, & it just makes her think she was ‘Dorothy’ all along! (Her hair & definately dress sense has totally changed from behind the scenes footage).
Whatever the case, she got the role & were all just waiting for news on Lauren!!
