Andrew Lloyd Webber to be ‘American Idol‘ mentor

Andrew Lloyd Webber is to make a guest appearance on the No. 1 rated US television show, American Idol.

On last nights live results show, presenter Ryan Seacrest announced that the award-winning composer and producer will join the list of top musical talents who have made appearances on ‘American Idol‘ as mentors, including Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond. As a mentor, he will share his expertise with this season‘s finalists.

_American Idol_ has been a big ratings hit in the US since it began in 2002. Last week the show scored an audience of nearly 30 million, more than double the number of viewers who tuned in to its closest rival, _Survivor: Micronesia_ which attracted 13.2 million viewers.

Andrew will be juggling his appearance on American Idol with his appearances on the current BBC 1 show _I‘d Do Anything_ in which he is leading a nationwide search for new West End stars to take on the roles of Oliver and Nancy in the forthcoming production of _Oliver!_
