Andrew Inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame

Last night (Monday 25th January 2009), Andrew Lloyd Webber was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement in Theater.

Theatre producer and Executive Vice President of The Nederlander Organization Nick Scandalios received the honour on Andrew’s behalf.

The ceremony took place in the Gershwin Theatre’s North Rotunda.

At the ceremony Nick said, “Andrew’s incredible body of work speaks for itself. For forty years, Andrew Lloyd Webber has had the single largest impact on American musical theatre. I am delighted to accept this on his behalf.”

Andrew said, “I am deeply honoured that the American Theater Critics Association and the members of the Theater Hall of Fame have chosen to induct me this year. I am sorry that I couldn’t attend the ceremony due to rehearsals for my new musical _Love Never Dies_ in London, but I look forward to visiting the Gershwin Theatre and viewing the plaque on my next visit to New York!”
