Andrew congratulates AR Rahman on his double Oscar glory

Andrew Lloyd Webber has heaped praise on AR Rahman after winning two Academy Awards for his music in the hit film _Slumdog Millionaire_.

Andrew, who collaborated with AR Rahman on the 2002 smash-hit musical _Bombay Dreams_, said: “I am absolutely delighted that A R Rahman, one of the worlds great composers, has been recognised at the Oscars. I am very proud to have presented his work _Bombay Dreams_ in the theatre.”

Rahman picked up the Oscar for best original score before scooping the best song Oscar moments later. The awards took _Slumdog’s_ tally to eight for the evening, with Danny Boyle winning the best director Oscar.

_Slumdog Millionaire_, the rags-to-riches tale of a boy from Mumbai, has dominated the awards season and has seen A R Rahman win a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and The Critics Choice Award 2009 alongside several other industry accolades.
